When her clan receives a cryptic letter, it’s up to Hailey to go on a dangerous quest to restore the veil and save her people.
While moping around in the cemetery the day after the Day of the Dead, Hailey met Bobby; if only she had realized he was dead before she started talking to him. Robert “Bobby” Duval died one year ago. When he died, the veil between this world and the next was at its thinnest. It should’ve been easy for him to cross over, but something kept him from doing so, and now, he’s stuck. With a promise to help Bobby cross over after she has fulfilled her mission, Bobby joins Hailey, and together they begin to understand her powers.
Will Hailey give up her bitterness against the craft and her own fear of death, and forgive herself in order to embrace her power? Will she be able to help save the supernatural community by sealing the veil once more?

Let’s see what’s on the book trailer shelf…

But the Afterworld is a place between the living and the dead and as Lizzie drifts between our world and that of the Afterworld, she discovers that many unsolved – and terrifying – stories need to be reconciled. Review (2)
I received an ARC from the publicist in exchange for an honest review.
Frost is a well-written, imaginative anthology. I loved how all of the stories centered around the Hotel Toujours—an odd hotel that offers something different for each of its guests. There is a common theme running throughout the anthology—love and discovery.

“Fire and Ice”

It was the first time I’d ever read anything by Elise Faber. I loved straight forward style and the honesty in her words.

“Fire and Ice” had great characters. Although these characters have appeared in other books (her Phoenix series and her LexTal series), I never got the feeling that I was missing something. There was enough back story included to let me get a good feel for each character.

My favorites were Dom and Steph. They were both strong characters who had to allow their walls to ‘thaw’. Once the walls came down, they were able to accept some hard truths in their lives.

Great story! I have added the Phoenix series and the LexTal series to my TBR. I can’t wait to read more about the evil twisted Dalshie.

“Rendezvous in Room 311”

KD Wood crafted an unexpected love story which I just loved. It was heartfelt and nearly moved me to tears.

I just loved the characters of Brock and Keely. They were an unlikely couple who experienced a great love. Brock was self-assured yet caring. Keely was strong and determined. The spark ignited between them was greater than any fireworks display.

I definitely did not envision how this would end. It blew my mind, but it was the perfect ending.

Great job Wood! It’s the third title I’ve read by her. She’s quickly becoming one of my go-to authors.

“Wishes”

C.C. Ravanera is a new author for me. This will not be the last thing I read by her. Out of all the stories, I think “Wishes” was my favorite.

Once again, we get another set of well-developed characters in an interesting story. I loved her take on a djinn. Ambroise was a complex persona who tugged at my heart strings. It was obvious to me what was going on with Michele. But, just like Ambroise, I turned a blind eye hoping for a better outcome.

Ravanera wrote a beautiful timeless love story. It was so touching.

“The Things We Leave Behind”

Kelly Martin’s story was the appropriate final story. It just left me speechless.

Granted, I was suspect about the characters early on in the story, but the premise kept me reading. The character of Will was awesome. He was so broken. The death of his wife was tragic and it left him empty. He had nothing left to live for without this woman in his life.

Jodi was endearing. You knew she had a job to do, but it was more than just an obligation for her.

Another great love story to end an anthology built around paranormal romance.

I enjoyed Frost a lot. The stories stayed with you (seriously, I dreamt about the hotel). Each story had two constant characters, the hotel and Higgins. The details in each story were perfect. Finally, each story was full of emotion.

Frost will not disappoint you. It’s a must read anthology.

She’s a total fangirl, loves the 80s and 90s, and has a sad addiction to a certain British boy band (shhhh). My Review

I enjoyed Brenda Pandos’ Supernatural Chronicles: The Vampires.

It was an interesting take on a group of young vampires (thank God there wasn’t any glitter). One question plagued me the entire story–how does a vampire go sober? Turns out that question is addressed in a series by Pandos, The Talisman series. So, if this is your first time reading Pandos or if you haven’t read the series, do yourself a favor and read it.

tet-200x300 tst-200x300 tot-200x300 bw-175

I liked the characters of Julia and Nicholas. She was a strong vamp who relished her role in the coven. Nicholas was the loving, concerned boyfriend.

Since vampires are one of my favorite supernaturals, I wanted them to have a bigger role in correcting the issue with The Veil. Plus, the ritual required blood. Shouldn’t that have been right up their alley? But as The Wolves pointed out in the last installment, vampires and collecting blood probably wouldn’t last too long with the ritual.

I’m looking forward to finding out more about Julia and Nicholas. Can’t wait to read the next installment in this supernatural treasure hunt!

But when her father is attacked and nearly killed, she finds a cryptic note in his pocket—a riddle she must solve to save him. Doing so means delaying the life she desires, but her father is worth it. Not to mention that if he dies, she becomes alpha, and she’s so not ready for that. Thank the Angels for Trevor, leader of his own pack and her lifelong crush, who volunteers to help her.

The riddle sends them on the hunt of their lives. After all, they must solve the mystery, find the relic they need, and deliver it on time to save not only their packs, but all of the Amadis, who serve as the Angels’ army on Earth. My Review

I really enjoyed reading Kristie Cook’s Supernatural Chronicles: The Wolves. When it comes to supernaturals, my two favorites are werewolves and vampires (haven’t quite figured out why yet).

This was the first story I’d read of Cook’s even though I have a lot of her books on my TBR and even own some of her physical books. I found her writing style very straight forward. The story flowed with plenty of action and good detail.

Her characters were well-crafted and intriguing. I loved the story between Sundae and Trevor. So much so that I’m putting the Soul Savers series on my Christmas list. I want physical books!

Cook’s installment in this series did not miss a beat. It picked up seamlessly from the previous story. I’m enjoying this series and I look forward to reading the next one.

My Review

Supernatural Chronicles: The Skinwalkers is the third story I’ve read by Lila Felix, and once again I loved it!

Felix has such a way with words. The language made me fall in love with the tale of Ahote, a soon-to-be Alpha Skinwalker. The words she used were so imaginative for commonplace locations, people, etc. For instance, “shaken and stirred crowd” (bar patrons), “underbelly of life” (swamp), “her voice was all hot chocolate and cookies” (warm and sweet), and “sludge on waders” (thick, dark coffee). Her words give me goosebumps. I aspire to such greatness.

As usual, I found Felix’s work well-written (despite some errors that missed editing) and well-researched. I checked all the locations mentioned in Skinwalkers just to see if they were real places. I even found an angel gracing a small tomb in the New Orleans Cemetery.

The characters were memorable in this novella. I loved Hamni. She was so raw and earthy. Her resentment rang clear along with her concern for Ahote. Jaci was the loving mate with backbone and a ‘fear nothing’ attitude. And, Ahote was the young man struggling with solving a riddle while adhering to traditions. He was an admirable character whom I want to know more about.

Skinwalkers is an original, great story! I loved the concept of finding the pieces of a relic and solving a puzzle. Can’t wait to read the next novella. I’m not giving away the clue….
