Welcome to WEEK 7 of Ready. Set. WRITE! What is RSW? It’s a summer long writing intensive through which writers write/revise/plan, cheer each other on, and hold each other accountable with weekly updates. On Mondays, I will share my goals and update you on my progress.
1. So, how did I do last week? My posted goals:
* Make changes to chapters 9 – 12 of WIP required. Came close–6 pages short of finishing!
* Finish work on first short story for project. DONE with rough draft!
* Work on second short story for project. Goal for this week: 2000 words DONE with rough draft! This is why I fell short on my novel WIP. I got to writing and couldn’t stop.
* Keep writing scenes for second book in trilogy. Write an opening chapter! DONE! Wrote first two chapters! AND, I laid out plot board for first act!
2. THIS WEEK’S GOALS:
*Finish revisions to Chapter 12 of WIP (novel)
*Make changes to Chapters 13-15 of novel WIP
*Make changes to short story rough drafts for anthology
*Work on rough draft of second book in trilogy, word count goal for week: 2,000
3. A FAVORITE LINE FROM MY STORY OR ONE WORD/PHRASE THAT SUMS UP WHAT I WROTE/REVISED:
I created propaganda lines for each chapter in my second book (trilogy). Here’s one of my favorites: “Looks like someone’s doing your thinking for you! Support The Alliance. Don’t let The New Order control your thoughts. Closed minds are easily killed.” (Message from The Alliance for a Free American Republic)
4. THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE I FACED THIS WEEK:
I must say my challenges were few this past week. No, I didn’t finish all the revisions on my WIP, but I had some great productive days! In order to have those days, I had to unplug! I turned off social media. I let my husband know ahead of time that I was going incognito which meant he needed to contact my daughter unless it was an emergency. I avoided answering the phone.
5. SOMETHING I LOVE ABOUT MY WiP:
When I think of something I love this week, I think about my second short story. It’s a NA paranormal. I love how the idea developed into something that I can build on later.
Well, that’s it for now. If you’re also working on your summer writing goals, good luck this week!
That sounds awesome!!! Congrats on your achievements ^_^
